Privacy Statement Onderneemvaardig.nl services

Onderneemvaardig helps entrepreneurs to find their way. This initiative from the City of Amsterdam is based on the principle ‘by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs’. The coaches, workshops, 1 to 1 sessions and articles on Onderneemvaardig will help you to orientate yourself and boost your future success as an entrepreneur!

Due to the Covid 19 crisis, many self-employed entrepreneurs are not earning enough to cover their overheads. Because no one knows how much longer the crisis will continue or how serious it will be, it has become necessary for self-employed entrepreneurs to make choices regarding their future. Luckily, you do not have to do this alone. This platform, Onderneemvaardig, is here to support you. For example, we can put you in touch with business coaches who are specialists in your branch or area of professional expertise.

The City of Amsterdam facilitates coaching partly though external parties and consultants. We assess whether an entrepreneur living in Amsterdam is eligible for coaching and monitor their progress. In order to provide this business coaching and to improve our services, it is necessary to use personal data. We would like to explain how we do this.

Whose personal data do we collect?

We collect and use personal data from residents of Amsterdam who register to receive support from coaches, consultants or trainers through the platform www.onderneemvaardig.nl.

What data do we use?

We use different categories of personal data from entrepreneurs:

  • name and address details
  • date of birth
  • contact details (telephone number, email)
  • requests for assistance.

Why do we use personal data?

We use the personal data of entrepreneurs who apply for assistance through the platform www.onderneemvaardig.nl in order to:

  • assess whether the entrepreneur is eligible for coaching, participation in workshops and/or 1 to 1 work sessions
  • evaluate the progress and end result of the coaching
  • maintain contact with the entrepreneur by telephone or email, confirm participation in workshops or work sessions, send appointment reminders for these meetings or make contact in the event of a no-show
  • facilitate the invoicing and payment process of external coaching organisations

We also use data to

  • draw up management reports to improve our services and account for our policies
  • conduct research and process statistics
  • conduct customer satisfaction surveys

Grounds for the use of personal data

We only use personal data if there is a grounded reason for doing so. The municipality is legally charged with the task of helping residents of Amsterdam to find paid work and to explore their options for finding employment. We use personal data on the basis of this obligation.

Government Task Act: articles 7,9 and 53 z of the Participation Act

Source of the data

After a person registers via the platform, external coaches, consultants or trainers share the data with the City of Amsterdam so that a decision can be taken as to whether or not the applicant belongs to the target group.

No transfer, no profiling, no automated decision-making

The personal data will not be processed outside the European Economic Area (EEA). No profiles will be used and no automated decision-making will take place.

Retention periods

We do not store personal data for any longer than is necessary for the purposes described, or for longer than the duration of the coaching you will receive. The selection list from the Public Records Act obliges us to store data for a fixed period. If we grant you assistance, we must store your data for 10 years after this assistance has ended. If you are refused assistance we will store your data for 5 years. If support is terminated, this period will be 6 weeks.

For more information, for example on your rights in respect of your personal data or how to reach our Data Protection Officer, please see the City of Amsterdam’s General Privacy Statement.
